Dear members and friends of St Peter's, Hobart,
From the beginning of May, the ‘Check-in Tas app’ will be the only way that people will be able to enter various public places such as restaurants, business, venues and events. This includes places of worship. In John 6:37 Jesus says ‘All that my Father gives Me will come to Me and the one who comes to me I will not cast out’. We will not be turning anyone away from worship. Harrison can put the app on your phone. He has done so for a number of us already. If your phone is not compatible, other members can check you in on their phone. Both Harrison and Garry are there early and are happy to do so. Good news! The heating is being attended to. So with winter approaching, we should have a cosy St. Peter’s Centre. Evening Bible study: We will trial continuing this on a Wednesday evening. We will look at Rev 14 on Wednesday 28th of April, 7.30pm. A link will be made available. If people also want the option to meet in person please let me know. Daytime Bible study and lunch: This will be held Tuesday May 4th at Erika Plaschke’s home, Unit 8, 2 Moirunna Drive, Lindisfarne. From 10.30am for coffee, study 11.00am and lunch from midday. Prayer breakfast: We hope to resume this in May. Just need to sort out some other commitments first. I Will update when details confirmed. During winter it is good to meet in homes. If you can make your home available for any of these please let me know. Every Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection: We rejoice in God’s blessings and providence, but as we know so much in this fallen world is marked by the fall, curse, sin, evil, cross, suffering and death. In many ways trying to deny and avoid this only eventually and ultimately makes things worse. The good news is that our loving God, in the person of the eternal Son, has overcome all of these by His sinless life, sacrificial death, resurrection and ascension for us. We celebrate this each Sunday as each Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection. We celebrate life, forgiveness and eternity. We receive life and salvation along with a renewal of our Lord’s presence through the life-giving Word that permeates our service (liturgy and hymns, readings and preaching) and the beautiful, cleansing, life-giving sacrament of the altar. Come, join the celebration and participate in the victories of life over death, grace over condemnation, faith over futility! Easter blessings to you all. Warm regards, Pastor Mike Steicke. Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, Hobart. Comments are closed.
