Dear members and friends of St Peter’s Lutheran Church, Hobart.
Farewell and lunch: We as a congregation say goodbye to and bless Nathan, Rebecca, Matilda and Eliza next Sunday, 27th of June, as they prepare to move to Vietnam. Following the service, we will have a soup and sandwich lunch. Soup will be provided. Please feel free to contribute sandwiches or a dessert item to the lunch.
Call: Pastor Mike has received a call to the Wodonga Parish, Victoria. Please pray for Pastor and family as he deliberates.
General Pastors Conference: This was to be held in the Barossa, South Australia, on the 6th to 8th of July this year, but has been postponed until a date to be advised due to COVID concerns. As Pastor, Leanne and Harrison had already made travel plans as they were going to combine this event with holidays in order to catch up with family, they will still travel. Pastor will therefore be away from the afternoon of Friday, 2nd of July, until the morning of Saturday, 17th of July. Please contact Gundars or one of the Pastoral Assistants if pastoral care is needed during this time. Pastor will also be contactable by mobile in case of emergency. Significant changes have also been made to the holding of General Synod due to COVID (you can see more information about Synod here).
In a day of confusion and despair, we thank God for the good news of Jesus Christ and the sure hope of eternal life under the perfect rule of King Jesus in a realm where all will be made new and all put right. That message and his presence, forgiveness and love can and does give a sure basis for hope and resilience and a good, alternative way of living, fallen and sinners though we are. Praise this enormous God who amazingly becomes one of us so that we will be like Him!
Warmest regards and blessings,
Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, Hobart.
